Jewelry Care
Sterling silver
Malkaleh jewelry is darkened with patina to bring out the details in the work. However, sterling silver will tarnish further over time if not worn regularly. If you find you do need to polish a piece, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft toothbrush with a homemade paste of baking soda, water, and a drop of mild dish soap. Scrub gently and rinse under warm water. Do not use dip polishing products as they will remove the patina, changing the look of the item.
Gold Vermeil
Gold vermeil is a distinctive, high quality technique for adding a thick and radiant gold layer to the surface of sterling silver jewelry. Malkaleh gold vermeil has a robust layer of 18k gold that is 3 microns thick. It is much more durable than regular gold-plated jewelry.
However, gold vermeil is still somewhat vulnerable to scratches and tarnish over time. With a tiny bit of extra care, your gold vermeil can be a long-lasting treasure.
Remove gold vermeil before showering, swimming, or exercising.
Avoid getting sunscreen, lotions, perfume, hair spray, makeup, or other chemicals on the jewelry.
